This week we have started our topic 'Too Many Toys'. We are learning about how to plan, design and make toys for others. A secondary, but very important, aspect of our topic is thinking beyond ourselves.
Our scenario is....
Discovery Kindergarten need
some new toys. The little kids are
growing up and they are getting a little tired of their old toys. Some of their toys have even broken because
the toys are so old.
The kindy kids are about 3 or
4 years old so we will need to think carefully about what types of things we
can do.
How can we help?
This week we have thought carefully about what and how we can help. We have come up with a process...
Find out what types of toys
they want.
Agree on the toys.
Make a plan and design new toys.
What do we need (materials) and gather the
materials
Make the toys.
Test the toys.
Remake/make better.
Give kindy the new toys.
Here we are ordering the ideas.
Our first step in our process is to 'Find out what types of toys the kindy kids would like'. We all brainstormed questions that we could ask them.
Here we are practising interviewing people before visiting Discovery Kindy.
Today four nominated students from each of the Endeavour classes went to interview some kindy kids. They were a little nervous but did a tremendous job. Well done!
Lots and lots of learning is going on in VH and Endeavour :)
