Week 8 Is Going To Be So Much Fun!

Woo Hoo! Week 8 is here so that means our swimming starts at Ally Todd Swimming. We are swimming on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday so remember to bring your togs, goggles, swimming cap and of course your towel.

Our library time will have to change this week so I will let you know when we are going tomorrow.

We had such a busy week last week with athletics and our art workshop. Have you checked out the photos on our blog.

At the moment in maths we are learning about, finding and using shapes to create patterns and pictures. We are also continuing to learn about place value, especially hundred numbers.

Last week we were real authors using describing words to bring our writing to life. Come in and check out our athletics descriptions.

Looking forward to seeing you all.

Leaping at Long Jump

Wow What a Busy Week

We have had such a busy week in Room VH.

Firstly, thank you all for coming along to our student-parent-teacher conferences last week to form goals for your children. These will be coming home Wednesday next week - so take a peek in their book bags.

Earlier this week we worked with our buddies to make our school environment better by cleaning up around the school.
Today we had our Fun Run for Christchurch. The children ran valiantly around and around the 400m track at Adventure Park. Many ran 4 or 5 laps, some even more than this. Ask them how many they ran for the people of Christchurch. I was a very proud teacher! Well done to you all.

Coming up next week on Monday we are having our school athletics (fingers are crossed firmly for good, fine weather otherwise Thursday here we come). Our whole syndicate will be strolling down to Adventure Park at 12 noon. We will enjoy a picnic lunch together (so remember no bought lunches on Monday). Then the kids will enjoy participating an athletic rotation. We encourage all the children to support their house by wearing house colours on Monday to be part of all the fun.

Have a fantastic weekend. See you all on Monday!

I jumped off the boat and then we got to play on the sanddunes. I liked swimming to the other side of the river with my life jacket on. I climbed tall sanddunes with my friends, it was amazing!

My Fort By Layton

Hi guys, In the weekend me and my dad started building a fort in my backyard. I helped measure the posts and dig the holes. I also carried the posts down the bank. They were very heavy! Iwill post a picture of it once it is finished.

EOTC Week by Kerre

EOTC week was fun. I really liked Sun Smart Day. We learnt to stay safe in the sun so we don't get sunburnt. We had to slip, slop and slap. It was fun being safe in the sun.

EOTC Week by Miah

This was EOTC week. I really liked first aid. We learnt that you must never touch the middle of a plaster because you will get germs or pass them on to someone. If you get germs you can get sick. First Aid was fun!

EOTC Week by Meg

My favourite day was when we were sunsmart. We had photos taken. We were sunsmart because we made sun hats to protect us. You need to Slip on a shirt, slop on some sunscreen and slip on some sun glasses. I liked it. We went under shade. Undercover Cody told us to Slip, Slop and Slap. He is a cool guy. We made sun hats to keep us safe. You can stay under a tree to keep out of the sun.

EOTC Week by Elias

This week I learnt about being safe in a fire. When you are on fire you Stop Drop and Roll.
On sunsmart day Cody the Undercover turtle said we have to put on sunscreen and Slip, Slop and Slap.

EOTC Week by Timothy

We made shelters this week. We put bears in the shelters. The shelters have to be strong so they don't get knocked down. You can build long ones and tall ones. If you get lost you must find or make a shelter.

EOTC Week by Grace

This week I learnt about shelters. It was fun. We learnt shelters need a roof. If you have a straight roof it would leak. If you have a triangle roof it won't leak because the rain will run off.

EOTC Week by Hunter L

My favourite day was fire safe day. If you got on fire you would have to Stop Drop and Roll. If there was a fire on the field you would have to go to a safe place away from the fire.

EOTC Week by Hayley

I liked shelter day because I like making them at school. At home I make shelters for my bear called Mico because he likes them all the time.

EOTC Week by Taine

Yes it was EOTC week! We learnt about safety. In a fire you Stop Drop and Roll. We ate sausages. We turned the sausages on a BBQ. We were safe around the BBQ.

EOTC Week by William

My favourite day was first aid. I liked colouring the first aid book. If you get a cut you clean it and cover it with a plaster. You must not touch the middle other wise you will get germs!

EOTC Week by Lachlin

My favourite day was fire safety. In a fire you have to Stop Drop and Roll. Also we ate sausages.

EOTC Week by Zyah

My favourite day was first aid. We washed our friends blood and put a plaster on them. You need to cover a cut because you don't want to spread germs.

EOTC Week Tyler

Eotc week - wow what an exciting week. We did lots of things that will keep us safe in a fire. Most importantly in a fire you need to Stop, Drop and Roll because if your clothes catch on fire this is what you do - Stop Drop and Roll. You do not want to get sunburnt either. If you get burnt you need to run your body under cold water. I learnt alot.

EOTC Week by Nicola

Eotc week this week I learnt about first aid. If your friend is hurt, ask them if they're OK and take them to the medical room. It is important to look after someone who is hurt.

EOTC WEEK by Hunter T

I really liked first aid because we practiced cleaning wounds . First you put a cotton bud in magic water to times. Then you put a plaster on. Mrs Nicholson used to be a nurse. She showed us how to clean a wound. It was awesome.

EOTC Day 3 - I am a First Aider

Today we learnt how to help someone who has been hurt. Mrs Nicholson, our school librarian, taught us how to clean a wound so we don't pass on germs. We went back to class to learn how to do it. We hope you like our video.

Christchurch Writing

Today we wrote about what happened in Christchurch recently. We brainstormed ideas using a picture as a starter. We also used our white hat to tell facts and our red hat to share how we felt. See our Wicked Writing Pages - Christchurch Earthquake Page on the left hand sidebar.

EOTC Day 2 - I am Safe in a Shelter

Well what a funny day - after the deluge this morning we cancelled our shelter making. So instead we made shelters for a little bear. Each of us worked in a small group to create a shelter out of things in the classroom. It was a great cooperative activity. We learnt that a shelter needs a roof. We decided that a roof works best if slanted so the rain will run off. Walls are important too so we are protected from the wind. What do you think of the little shelters we made?

Some are very extravagant indeed!
