Arts fun with Exploration

Today VH class learnt lots of new arts with students from KF class in Exploration Syndicate.  This term the Year 7/8 students have been undertaking an inquiry about different types of arts, dance, drama and music.  They planned some lessons to teach our students.

Here are some of the activities that VH kids learnt.

"Jazz dance was my favourite because you could do some cool moves to the music," grooved Amber.

"Hieroglyphics was my favourite because we got to write our names in Egyptian writing," wrote Wade.

"My favourite part was the coloured soda that we got to throw.  It was something to do with the Holi Festival that happens in India,"  smiled Jaxson.

"My favourite thing was when we did the hip hop.  I got to do some really cool dance moves to the music," twirled Daisy.

"I liked doing the guitar with Caiden because I got to learn some songs and some chords," strummed Riley.

"My favourite was hip hop because I got to wear a really cool hat and dance too," danced Olivia.

Visiting Resolution Syndicate

This afternoon VH class visited AK class.  Mr Knight and AK showed our kids how Mathletics worked.  VH kids came back buzzing and are looking forward to becoming big Resolution kids.

Swimming Fun

Today VH class had their first lesson with Ally Todd.  They did lots of drills to help group the students.  They were marvellous and got dressed quite independently.  Thanks to the mums and Nanas that came along to help.

Multiplication Madness

This week Room VH have begun a major focus on learning their multiplication facts.

We are learning our 10 times tables.

Our goal is to learn our x2, x5 and x10 tables.

Here is a game to help us learn our tables.

Just click on the picture to begin playing.  Remember to choose the times tables that we are focussing on.

Term 4 - Wheels Day Fun

In the blustery Wellington wind today VH kids had a blast on their scooters, bikes and skateboards. During morning tea and lunch they donned their helmets to enjoy their freedom on wheels.

VH kids also had fun using Green Hat thinking (being creative) to create amazing wheel parks.  The little ones chose either to work with partner or by themselves to design skateparks.  They then shared within their groups their designs.  What amazing descriptive discussions were held.

To round off a fantastic day two groups shared a very funny play called 'Please Don't Sneeze.'  What entertaining actors they were.

Lots of Fun at Discovery School

Friday was a busy day at Discovery School.  We had a beach day organised by the Student Council to raise funds for Surf Life Saving NZ.  Coming into summer it is definitely a positive organisation to support.

The kids all had fun dressing up, playing with beach balls and riding boogie boards.

Congratulations we raised over $300 across the school.

Early Friday evening lots of VH kids attended their junior disco.  A fun night was had by all enjoying the dancing, flashing lights and of course lots of fun with their friends.  It was so much fun to see them having fun!
