I love play dates because you can do all sorts of things like Wii, X-box, Tennis, Lego and you might play on their trampoline. Once I went to Rosearna's house but before we went to her house we played tennis. Chelsea came as well. We all went to get fish and chips and we even got a coke each. Sports teams are really awesome because you
get skilled. Lots of people in my
class are in a sports team. Sports
they are in are soccer, rugby, cricket, tennis, hockey, gym, karate, dance,

dancing and cheerleading). I used to be in a sports team called

Wow there are so many places to go to like
mini golf, Dreamworld, Movie World, Lazer Strike, Junglerama, Te Papa, on
trains, Carlucciland and for a ride on the Cable Car. My favourite place to go to is Junglerama because everything
you do is easy and there are very steep fun slides. There are big spikey balls that knock out. Junglerama is such a tiring place.

In the summer you can go swimming. Swimming is amazing. There are lots of places where you can go swimming. These are some of the swimming places. Ally Todd, Porirua, the sea, lakes and rivers. Going swimming is amazing because it's cool and important to learn. Do you know why it's important? Well, it's important because if you get stuck in the sea or the ocean you can swim back to shore. Auckland Zoo is a fun place to visit. At the zoo I saw flamingoes and an elephant. I saw a zebra. I saw a giraffe and I saw the rhinoceros. Next time I go to the zoo I want to see a seal. I feel happy visiting the zoo.

I went to Australia Zoo and I saw a red panda. They are the cutest animal on Earth. They have red and white fur on their body. They have a long tail too. At the zoo I saw some sun bears. They are very clever and they eat honey. They are brown and white. At the zoo I saw some monkeys. They were very very cheeky. After we went to the zoo we went to a cafe. I had a yummy slice of chocolate cake and a hot chocolate. I love going to the zoo.
My family likes going to the zoo. The last time we went to the zoo was when I went to Wellington Zoo. I have been to Australia Zoo too. I saw lots of animals like meercats, koalas, monkeys, insects, spiders, snakes, possoms and lots more there. I held a python (it was light). I held a baby crocodile and an orange possom. My brother likes snakes - so do I. My brother was part of a show. There were dingoes, brown king snakes and pythons. There was also a bird show at Australia Zoo where you saw an eagle, parrots, parakeets and all sorts. I saw sun bears, tigers, lions, seals, fish, stingrays, starfish and sea anenomes of course. We are going to take my baby sister Taite when she is older. My family likes to the exciting zoo.

We love writing stories at school. Narrative stories are so much fun because we can use our imagination to entertain each other with words.

In Africa on a hot and sunny day a little
lion with a great big mane went hunting for a slithery snake. The lion’s name was Mike. His friends called
him Big Mane because his mane big and fluffy.
Mike was a very smart lion because he was good at hunting. He as 20
years old.
The next day his brother, Steve, came back
from visiting his grandad. When Mike
first saw his brother they always tackled each other. His brother rolled over
then he smiled. Mike loves it when he smiles.
Mike and Steve didn't have a mother because
a mean lion killed her in front of them when they were just cubs. They hadn’t thought about this mean lion for
a very long time but that night the mean lion came into their den. Luckily Steve wasn’t asleep and woke up
before the mean lion attacked Mike.
The brothers and the entire pride lived
happily ever after in the sunny jungles of Africa.

#14 T-Ball
Today VH class is going to do T-Ball. Last time I got two home runs. This time I’m going to try to get all home runs again. A home run is when you run around all the bases before the ball gets back to the tee. Did you know that there are fielders and batters and a back -stop. This is how to hit a T-ball tee… you line the bat with the ball then you swing the bat. You have to have your feet apart and look at the ball. Hit! After you hit you can run to base 1, 2 or 3. You even might get a home run! T-Ball is super fun.

the bat, drop it and run to the 1st base. When you get to 3rd base try to run home. It gets you a Home run. All the people are called batter, back-
stop and fielder. The ba how you
ck-stop catches the ball and puts it on the base. A fielder gets the ball and throws it to the person who is
back-stop. The batter hits the
ball with the bat and then runs.
That’s why I like T-ball.

of the class is fielders and one person is the catcher. The other half of the class are

hit the ball off the Tee. When you
hit the ball you have to run to the bases but if the backstop puts the ball on

The next person comes to hit the ball. When they do, you have to keep running to the next base or
get home safe. I love playing

“Wow, that plant looks cool!” In Room VH we are growing lots of
plants. There is a plant in a
jar. It is getting really really
big and I can almost touch the leaf.
You can see lots of roots and they are very healthy. We are growing some beans and when they
have grown Room VH can eat them.
We are also growing grass and they have already grown tall. The grass is in a cup and that cup is
called a Hairy Head. Plants need
sun and water. The parts of a
plant are leaves, petals, the eye and steam. I feel good learning about plants because I like seeing
flowers.

#23 Transport - Getting from Here to There
I like going on the train. When we are at the station we all wait behind the line until the train has stopped. Mum took Chase, Marc, Raene and me for a ride on the train. We saw lots of containers on another train. The train makes funny noises like "toot toot" and "clack clack."

Mmmmmm! That was nice.
At the shared lunch there was so much food to choose from. There was so much food like cupcakes,

taught us things that we haven’t learn with Mrs H. I like Miss Holman because she dresses nicely and she is
really nice to me. Last Friday the
whole class had a shared lunch.
For our lunch we had cheerios, a whole lot of muffins, jelly, crackers,
crackers with cheese on, a gluten free cake, a brownie (that my mum made) and
some gluten free chippies.

#31 Olympics Day
It was cool yesterday because we had a school olympics. I was in Team Ireland. I had to wear green and orange and white. We played 7 different sports like rowing, koosh ball throw, climbing and archery with floppy balls. We had to get 20 on the target. My favourite event was the climbing. I would love to do a school olympics again when I am 10 years old.

On Tuesday all of Discovery School's syndicates had an Olympic Day to celebrate the Olympics. There were all kinds of countries. My country was Japan. I had a head band and a badge so that everyone knew what team I was in because Japan and England wore red and white. When Evelyn Williamson came I felt so excited when I saw her because she went to the Olympics.

On Tuesday Discover School had an exciting school Olympics. I was in team South Africa which made me proud. We competed in 7 sports. The 7 sports were running, hockey, pentathlon and rowing. We did climbing too. To play hockey we had to dribble past cones. It was so much fun. I liked the Olympics Day.

All you needed to do is bounce the ball in the hoop but you were not allowed to go past the time. On School Olympics Day everyone did sports. I was in the Samoan team. In my favourite sport my team got 222 points. Later on after morning team my team did rowing. We got 137 points. We did 7 events in all. After lunch we did the Olympic ceremony. Finally we found out who won. The team which came third was India. Then in 2nd place was Belgium. But in first place was Team Samoa. First place! Me and Kennyth got a gold medal. I was proud of us.

#32 Art Workshops
On Tuesday VH, BL and BD went to the art workshop. It was exciting to go there. Our teacher's name was Jane Lloyd. We drew healthy things like a banana, an egg, an eggplant, a pineapple, a watermelon and a pumpkin. There were coloured crayons, dark red, red, yellow and blue. Everyone had to mix some colours together like blue and dark red to make purple. I was very proud of my drawing. I love art.

Yum! This term we had delicious boerewors and we had cooksisters from South Africa. We did lots and lots of cooking because we were learning about the world. My mum cooked them. Lots of people like the boerewors but not many people liked the cooksisters. I thought they were yum though. Mrs H loved the broerewors.

Matariki is a group of seven really hot stars. In June in NZ you can see Matariki. Discovery School went to a lookout to see Matariki. Most people went to the Matariki morning. Matariki is how we celebrate the Maori New Year. The colour of the Matariki stars is blue.

Muffins with Mum is fun. Yeah! I'm going to show my mum my art workshop drawing. We sang our mum's Haere Mai to welcome them to our class. We even got muffins to eat. I got to show my mum where I am on the Reading Garden.

This term everyone in Room VH sent a Flat Stanley somewhere around the world. I sent my Flat Stanley to Australia. My Flat Stanley arrived back at my house. I was so surprised. I sent it to Nana's sister. He went to the beach and he saw a kangaroo and a kookuburra in Nana's sister back yard. Aunty Sandy took some cool photos.

My Flat Stanley went to England and it went to the Queen's Gate. Flat Stanley visited Uncle Kirk and Ingrid. It arrived back at school. I was happy to see my Flat Stanley having fun in England.

This term we sent our Flat Stanley's all around the world to different countries. Most people sent their Flat Stanley's to England. I sent mine to England to Millie and Brianna. Today Riley's Flat Stanley came back from Australia. He looks like an Australian man because he has stars on his t-shirt.

#44 Cross Country
What a morning at the Discovery School
cross country. Room VH ran in the Year 2 races. We had to run a long way. It was on a Tuesday. I was proud of how I ran in the Cross
Country.

What a morning at the Discovery School cross country. In the cross country I came 7th place. My friend Josh came 2nd and my other friend Cameron came 1st. Another friend Charlie came 3rd. There were separate races for each of the year groups. The Year 1s went first, then us, then the Year 3s. Each person had a different house colour. We have four houses, Blake is blue, Hillary is green, Devoy is yellow and Kendall is red. I am in Blake, same as Josh. The cross country is cool. The weather was freezing. The sun wasn't the brightest but we all still did our best and had fun.

In Room VH we have a Reading Garden to show
us how well we read. At the beginning of the year I started at orange. Then I moved to turquoise. Now I am on purple. I love reading.

Wacky day is such a fun day. Everyone dresses up wacky. We had a wacky dance off. We raised money for a new playground.

#47 School Discos
On Friday night I went to the school disco. It was fun! I wore my flower girl dress and a white jersey with sequins. I stood under the disco ball and then the lights were shining near the disco ball. I got four treats. When I got home I felt tired. By Mia
