Awesome Athletics

In the wild wind of Wellington we had athletics this morning. Although chilly we had a blast running, jumping and throwing in the inaugural Discovery School Junior Athletics. Dressed in our house colours we all did our very best in high jump, javelin, long jump, hurdles, sprints and shot put.

Lots of mums and dads put on their jackets and hats to come out and support us.

A big thank you to all the parents who helped with the events too. You know who you are!

It was a great morning!

Rock and Rolling at Discovery School

Australian musician Andy Jones visited our school yesterday. We had such fun listening and joining in with all the musical styles he presented to us. We learnt about Hip Hop, Rock, Disco as well as music from around the world including African music, Indian music and Pacific Island music. Andy, with the help of many from Room VH and modern gadgetry, created and recorded music on the spot. It was certainly one of the best performances we have had for a long time.

Here are some of us having fun, participating in and creating some great music.
