VH News Week 4

Loads of learning in VH this week as you can see from our photos.

We wrote the room - look at how many words D found.

Everyday we do reading together - here is B having fun reading one of our big books.

After writing each day someone (or 3) get to share their writing with the class.  Here is M reading his.  After this he went off to see the principal Mrs Jennings to get a special sticker for outstanding writing.

We are so lucky to have such an amazing library at school.  Mrs Nicholson loves sharing new books with us.  This week we started our chapter book challenge.  At the end of the week we had finished about 10 chapter books.  Great start VH :)

Life Education 2

We had our second visit with Harold in the Life Education Truck this week.  It was fun talking and learning to express our feelings using more words and how our choices affect how we feel.  It was fun meeting some new puppet friends with Harold too.

One of the things we are learning with the help of Harold from life education is how we play, share and cooperate with our friends and how we feel when we are together.  Here are some photos of us with our friends.

Maths Week - Day 5

The last challenge of the week was another highlight.  VH kids and their big buddies from SMe had to solve a maths treasure hunt around the school.  Then they had to crack the code.  What a blast!

Maths Week - Day 4

Today's challenge was to see how many balls (soccer, football, netballs) we could fit in Mrs J's car. Well it was really fun but we didn't do too well in our estimation - we estimated that there could be 35 balls in the car .... the highest estimation was 89 balls by BD class.... but we couldn't believe our eyes when over 200 balls fitted in the little car.

  

This was close to our estimation and look at all the room left.

Syndicate Assembly

Today VH class was used for syndicate assembly.  We love getting together with the other students in our syndicate and sharing our work and singing songs.  But the best bit is receiving certificates for great work.

Life Education

Woo hoo!  A highlight of the week was visiting Life Education and seeing Harold again.  Our focus for learning is sharing our feelings and understanding how others feel.

Visiting the truck is so cool - because the lights change and there are stars on the roof.

Maths Week - Day 3

Today the whole school practised geometry by making tangrams.  Was a bit tricky but a good challenge.

Maths Week - Day 2

Today we furthered our symmetry skills by completing some 'Symmetry Selfies.'

They did a great job!

Maths Week Challenge - Day 2 was Shoot It!  We had to estimate how many goals could get past Mr D.  Josh did a great job - he scored!  Well done.  Our estimation today was a little high - but once again we were pretty close.

Maths Weeks starts off with a Roar!

This week is Maths Week!  What great learning we have planned over the course of the week.

We had lots of fun creating symmetry monsters!

Each day there is a school Maths Challenge.  The whole school has to estimate and then either compete in the maths challenge or watch it unfold.  Today was Eat It - We estimated how many marshmallows Mrs Dale and Mrs Kenny could fit in their mouths.  VH class estimated 20. 

The teacher's could only fit 9 each.  Our estimation was so close!
