Buddy Time

Week 8 has been a great week learning about Matariki.  Everyone painted some beautiful Matariki art this week based on the story 'The Starfishes'.  On Friday we had fun showing our buddies our cool work.

Discovery School had a whole school assembly on Friday afternoon.  It was pretty groovy because MR class hosted, the school choral group performed and we all grooved to a salsa after our school salsa group performed.  Big congratulations to Freya for achieving the Principal's Award this week.  

Another reader reaches 100 nights in Room VH!  Way to go!

Cosmic Cosmodome

Super Star Readers

Well done to our latest bunch of super star readers.  Well done on your latest achievement.

Today we had fun acting our the Matariki legend 'The Star Fishes.'  Room VH also created some very colourful artworks showing part of the legend.

Week 6 News

Wow what a great week in Room VH.  We have been doing lots of reading and writing.  Check out some fantastic writing 'The Best Part of Me' on our writing pages on the right.  Such a great effort by everyone!  I have been able to post most of the children's but some were too big to scan so they are up on the wall for you to enjoy too in the classroom.

We finished our siapo art.  The kids are very proud of their efforts in this artwork.

Last week we said goodbye to our friend Abby with a delicious shared lunch.  Thank you so much for helping us make her send off a great one.  We miss you Abby!

Today we had Discovery Time this morning.  Our theme was parties and celebrations with a focus on sharing and working together nicely.

We talked about what this would look like and the kids came up with these suggestions:

• Speaking nicely to each other
• Sharing our ideas
• Helping your friends
• Being nice
• Discussing ideas together
• Using other people's ideas
• Mixing our ideas together

Library Fun

Today Room VH visited our school library.  Mrs Nicholson read us a new book called The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr Morris Lessmore.  We really loved it and then we watched the award winning short film of this amazing story for all book lovers.
