Final Assembly of Term 1

Today Room VH hosted school assembly.  

It was lots of fun and our hosts were fantastic.  

Our song of the week was Yellow Submarine so we showed our great submarine that we made this week.

Some of Room VH artists showed their creative flair by sharing their underwater portholes with the school.  Lots of oohs and aahs for their great artwork.

Big congratulations to Blake for winning the school cup for athletics.  

It was a close "race" with Kendall coming second.

Island Bay Marine Reserve Trip

What an amazing trip!  We saw rocky shore sea creatures in their habitat and then got to feel them in the gentle feeling ponds.  Watch and enjoy our exploring.

Week 10 News

What a busy week...  We started the week with school photos.  They are going to be amazing!
Room VH hosted syndicate assembly, did poetry, writing, maths, art, reading, plays and today we had a wonderful Pirates and Princesses Discovery Time.

Also this week Room VH hosted Kapa Haka.  Here is Adventure Syndicate having fun singing waiata.

Here are some of us reading our new poem about fish.  It was a fun poem full of amazing verbs about how a fish moves.

In Room VH we love maths.  We used our mimio to solve some maths problems.

One of our reading groups performed the play 'The Dragon' as well.   The group were amazing acting in their play with lots of confidence.

Only 4 more days till Easter holidays this term.  I'm sure it will be fun filled and busy again next week.

Radiant Readers Rock!

We've had a magnificent week at Discovery School - very busy with special visitors and fantastic learning.

Our latest Radiant Readers succeed at achieving 50 nights of reading.

And fantastic effort to achieve 25 nights.

We've had lots of opportunities all week to practice new things. 

Acting as teacher...playing traffic light.

Acting as publishers.... of our shared writing.

And today we had fun just acting - we did some drama, acting out our social skill of being responsible. Lots of laughs were had by all when everyone acted out their 'not being responsible' scenario.

We discussed what being responsible looks like, sounds like and feels like.

Then we shared how we are and can be responsible at school and at home.  Here are some of our ideas.

The Clever Cookies Ensemble

Look at the clever cookies.  Over the past two weeks we have been learning our numbers to ten, 100  or even 1000 using our cool song!

Fizzy Explosion Fun

Today we have had a wonderful day with lots of learning.  We are becoming masters of using our maths knowledge to solve problems to 10, 100 and for some even 1000.
