ANZAC Day Writing

ANZAC day is a special day.  ANZAC stands for Australia and NZ Army Corps.  Some people wear poppies to remember who died in the war.   By Abigail

On ANZAC day the war started at night.  You wear poppies for respect.  Where the soldiers died, poppies sprang up.  We did a ceremony at school. By Ashton

ANZAC stands for Australia and NZ Army Corps.  There is a field called Flanders Field.  When its April the 25th that's when they set out to the war.  They went to Gallipoli.  Lots of soldiers died in the war.  Some soldiers won medals.  By Raumati

In VH we made ANZAC day biscuits, they were yum.  The poppies grew in Flanders field.  Some people have medals for their bravery.  Most people wear poppies to show respect.  Some people did not die in the war.  Some people went to the memorial in Wellington in the big tunnel.  The World War 1 lasted for 4 years.  Some people play the last post. On ANZAC day we celebrate the armies that died.  We lay a wreath on ANZAC day.  Then we sing some songs. Bang!  The soldiers got medals at the end of the war at a ceremony.  We wear poppies. The poppies grow at Flanders Field.  The soldiers got ANZAC biscuits.  Tons of people got shot.   The war started at night.  The war was at Flanders Field.  World War 1 kept on going for four years.  By Sidney

We had a very special remembrance service yesterday at school to remember our servicemen and women who died in WW1 and later wars.

ANZAC Biscuits

This week we are learning about the significance of remembering the ANZACs.  We have listened to stories, watched videos, created artworks and today we made ANZAC biscuits.  Yum!  The biscuits we make today are much sweeter and chewier than the ones sent by loved ones to the soldiers 100 years ago.
