Senior Athletics and Assembly
What great learning we have done this week. Reading groups are working really well and everyone is reading for enjoyment and finding information. This week we learnt to make story sequences. Come in and check out our story sequences of the legend Taniwha O Porirua.
Tuesday dawned a beautiful sunny day. Our 8 year olds headed off to Adventure Park for a day of sporting competition and fun. The kids were amazing and tried their best throughout the day.
On Friday Room VH hosted assembly. Well done to our hosts and our certificate winner. Big ups to you guys!
This week we have also have lots of people achieve 25 nights reading. Look at how happy they are in achieving their first goal.

Te Papa Rocks!
We have had an amazing week in Room VH. On Tuesday Resolution Syndicate visited Te Papa. We learnt all about the powhiri. Enjoy two reports from our news desk!
We learnt about the 9 stages of a powhiri and experienced each at the end of our visit with our educator Kahli.
This was such good preparation for our Takapuwahia Marae visit coming up later this term on Tuesday, 9th April. You are most welcome to come along and join in this wonderful experience with us.
We had fun creating these and others but they are too big to put them all on the blog. We enjoyed watching them together at the end of the day today. Well done everyone - you were great reporters!
In Athletics this week we have practiced throwing discus and vortex. It was fun to hear the vortex whistle and see them fly smoothly through the air.
Next week we have our senior athletics (Tuesday from 9.30 at Adventure Park) and junior athletics (Wednesday from 9.15 on our school field). We encourage the kids to wear their house colours to make the events a fun and colourful sporting spectacle. Check out the left side bar to see what house your child is in.
We had fun predicting this week. We wrote interesting stories predicting what a story would be. The stories the kids wrote were imaginative and entertaining.

What a 'Smart' Week
This week Room VH have been practicing using all our smarts.
We have made some great posters to tell others what we think our smarts are...
In the middle we drew ourselves, then in the middle circle we drew who were our close family and friends then the outer circle we put in our friends. In creating these posters we used our visual smarts (picture smarts), and our intra-personal smarts (self smarts). They are all so different and unique. To see the others pop into our classroom.
Congratulations to our first readers to reach 25 nights reading in their Read-It Book! Well done I'm very proud of you!
Next week I'm sure there will be a few more. They are this close!

Super Stars!
What a cool week we have had. Our focus this week in athletics was long jump. We practised each morning and with every leap we all jumped further.
Room VH have also had fun reading in our groups. Each group had fun learning and reading about different subjects. One group got to remake the traditional story 'The Ant and the Grasshopper'. We hope you enjoy it.
We also have been playing with numbers during maths time reinforcing place value - thousand, hundred, tens and ones.
Here is a cool game to reinforce this at home.
